Noctera for iOS · Effective 29 August 2026

The short version: Noctera collects nothing. The app contains no networking code of its own — it has no server, no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs. The only network traffic the app produces is your own browsing, which goes directly to the websites you visit, exactly as any browser does.

Your browsing

Pages you visit are loaded by Apple's WebKit directly from the sites themselves. Noctera does not proxy, inspect on a server, log remotely, or in any way transmit what you browse. We could not read your browsing history if we wanted to — there is no mechanism in the app that could send it to us.

Ad blocking and on-device AI

Noctera blocks ads in two layers, both on your device:

When the AI confirms an ad, Noctera stores a small blocking rule on your device so the same ad stays hidden on future visits. You can inspect and disable every learned rule in the app.

History, bookmarks, and settings

Browsing history (capped and clearable), bookmarks, favorites, learned blocking rules, and preferences are stored locally on your iPhone. Private tabs store nothing at all. "Clear data on exit" and "Clear all data now" wipe website data on demand. Deleting the app deletes everything.

Custom wallpaper

If you pick a start-page wallpaper from your photos, Apple's photo picker runs outside the app — Noctera never gains access to your photo library, only to the single image you choose, which is stored on-device to draw the start page and never leaves your iPhone.

Face ID

The optional app lock uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Noctera never sees your biometric data — only whether unlocking succeeded.

What we collect

Nothing. No personal information, no identifiers, no usage analytics, no crash reports, no location. The App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected" because there is no mechanism in the app that could collect data.

Children

Noctera is a web browser with unrestricted web access and is rated accordingly on the App Store. It is not directed at children.

Changes

If a future version ever changes any of the above — for example, optional iCloud sync — this policy and the App Store privacy label will be updated before that version ships.
